Backwards Blackbirds is a cabaret rock quartet from Columbus, fronted by pianist and singer-songwriter Megan Rainey. Featuring the talents of guitarist Harry Paul, bassist Andy Kuss and drummer Joe Spurlock, the group delivers a nostalgic blend of jazz and folk rock with a psychedelic twist. From tunes about old cars and conspiracy theorists to bluesy tales of Prohibition and love gone sour, Backwards Blackbirds will spin you a handful of yarns you won’t soon forget! Their debut EP, “The Practical Ones,” is set to release in early 2019.
They will be joined by fellow Columbus ensemble Elliott Collective, self-described as “an experience weaved through a story of sound and strings.” The ethereal folk group is led by violinist and singer-songwriter Kristen Elliott, and features Eric Clemens on guitar, Efrum Imler on bass and Will Ash on drums. The group recently celebrated the release of their self-titled debut album.
